Ernest Hemingway stands as one of the world’s great literary figures. Born in Oak Park, Illinois, in 1899. He served as a war correspondent during the Spanish Civil War. In 1954 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature. He died in Idaho in 1961.

 

AO’s spectacular new ‘take no prisoners’ production of Carmen will be set in the war torn Spain of 1937… specifically in Seville (the financial and cultural capital of southern Spain) after Franco’s forces took control.
